63th Venice Film Festival - line-up

63th Venice International Film Festival (30.08-09.09)

Venice Fest.

It seems to be a rather good selection of Asian movies in Venice - especially if we compared to the Cannes selection of this year. Some very teasing new films by great directors, such as I Don't Want to Sleep Alone by Tsai Ming-liang, Syndromes and a Century by Apichatpong Weerasethakul and Exiled by Johnnie To. Also several Japanese films are noticeable, Sakebi by Kiyoshi Kurosawa and Koorogi by Shinji Aoyama including several in the animation genre (with the awaited Gedo senki by Hayao Myazaki's son, Goro Miyazaki). In the documentary section, Jia Zhangke's Dong is surely expected.

Really looking forward to the Tsai, Jia and Weerasethakul films, as you might expect! Some info on Syndromes and a Century here. You'll probably get to see most of these at the Nantes Three Continents, I guess...

Yes, I will surely see some, especially, a focus on some Thai films has already been announced for this year.
